Raised in Boothbay, Marty is a Maine native. She graduated with a BA in English from Gettysburg College, Pennsylvania, and with an MA from Clark University, where she met her husband to be, Dennis. In the late 1970s, Marty and Dennis moved to Boothbay Harbor, Maine, to establish a freelance editorial service. After editing books for over 20 years, the Gleasons decided to transform a long-standing passion for art into a business. In 1985 they opened Gleason Fine Art, a gallery specializing in 19th to 21st century artists associated with Maine. In 2008, the Gleasons opened a second gallery, Gleason Fine Art, Portland, at 545 Congress Street.
Realizing that selling real estate was a natural outgrowth of her love of midcoast Maine, Marty earned her real estate license in 2007, associating herself with Blue Water Properties of Rockland, which specializes in fine coastal properties. An active community member, Marty is past president of the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library and has volunteered for many local non-profits. Currently, she is helping with the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens capital campaign in Boothbay.
